Join us for Zen in 2026 (and: a talk this week, an event in February)

Practice any Tuesday, and join a visit to a Soto Zen group in February

Weekly Practice on Tuesdays

Short version: join us any Tuesday at 9am Pacific at this Zoom link.

Happy New Year! Tomorrow, Tuesday January 6 is our next practice period:

  • Practice: Tuesdays at 9:00am Pacific (12:00 Eastern; 18:00 CET). Practice varies slightly in length, up to 40 minutes (leaving early is OK)

  • Where: on Zoom here

We will also have a talk and discussion tomorrow:

  • Dharma Talk: Practicing with Moral Injury (tomorrow, Jan 6)

  • Practice adjustment: sitting practice will be shorter to allow discussion time afterward.

You can find the complete schedule & entries to copy to your calendar at https://www.tczen.org/schedule

If it’s your first time joining, the next orientation will be on January 13 (orientation is recommended but optional; there is no need to wait on it before joining):

  • Orientation: for first-time visitors, an introduction occurs 30 minutes earlier on alternating weeks (8:30am Pacific; 11:30am Eastern; 17:30 CEST). Next: January 13, or see the calendar.

Special Event: Wednesday February 4
(hybrid online + live in the SF Bay Area)

On Wednesday, February 4, I’ll speak at Kannon Do Zen Center in Mountain View, California. Kannon Do is a long-established Japanese style Soto Zen center. It was founded in 1968 and sits today in the center of Silicon Valley.

I’m looking forward to visiting! Kannon Do invites everyone in Tech Community Zen to join online or in person:

  • When: Wed, February 4, 2026, practice starting at 7:10pm (talk at 7:55pm)

  • What: Dharma Talk: Zen, Tech, and the Logic of Not Knowing

  • Where: Find full details and a Zoom link here

Looking Forward in 2026

Finally, stay tuned in early 2026 for plans to offer regular Dokusan (one on one Zen discussions) and additional practice opportunities. I’ll announce those when the details are ready. Meanwhile, you can always find me after practice on any Tuesday, or email [email protected].

With thanks for your practice, and best wishes as we start a new year together with the whole world 🙏
